PITMAN, NJ – Sharon Longton, BSN, RN, CNN, CCTC, of Southgate, MI, has been elected national president-elect of the American Nephrology Nurses’ Association (ANNA) for 2013-14. Longton’s responsibilities will include serving on the National Board of Directors (BOD) and as liaison to assigned committees. Longton is a data manager/transplant coordinator at Harper University Hospital in Detroit, MI.
Along with Longton, additional national officers were elected to serve on ANNA’s BOD for 2013-14. The new officers will assume their respective positions during ANNA’s 44th National Symposium, April 21-24, 2013, in Las Vegas, NV.
Charla Litton, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, CNN, of Haughton, LA, was reelected as ANNA’s national treasurer and will help ensure sound fiscal management for the association. She will oversee ANNA’s financial matters including budget preparation and reporting. Litton is a family nurse practitioner for United HealthCare.
In the other elections, Paula Richards, MSN, RN, CNN, of Perkasie, PA, was reelected as Northeast vice president. Richards is a clinical manager at Fresenius Medical Care, Willow Grove, PA.
Phyllis Wille, MS, RN, FNP-C, CNN of Champaigne, IL, was reelected as North Central vice president. Wille is on the nursing faculty at Danville Area Community College, Danville, IL.
During ANNA’s 44th National Symposium, all vice presidents will assume new roles as Directors on the BOD. Directors will be assigned special projects and also serve as liaisons between the BOD and various workgroups.
Also in the regional elections, members elected three other leaders to serve as chapters coordinator-elect (CCE). With the dissolution of the regional divisions of ANNA, Chapter Coordinators and CCEs will segue into roles as members of the new ANNA Chapter Support Team and oversee chapter activities.
Lisa Balk, RN, CNN, of Lansdale, PA, was elected Northeast CCE. Balk is director of operations for inpatient services at Fresenius Medical Care in Plymouth Meeting, PA.
Rhonda Duggan, BSN, RN, CCTC, of Harrisburg, NC, was elected Southeast CCE. Duggan is a kidney transplant coordinator at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, NC.
Carol Pope, MSN, RN, FNP-C, CNN, of Blue Springs, MO, was elected North Central CCE. Pope is a nephrology nurse practitioner at Kansas City Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Kansas City, MO.
