Candidate for National Treasurer

Rebecca (Becki) Benfield, BA, RN, CDN

Job Position and Professional Responsibilities

I am currently retired after 23+ years in nephrology nursing. My last position before I retired was as Nurse Manager of a freestanding dialysis facility with 80+ patients and 22 staff members.

Role Qualifications

Within my 23+years in nephrology nursing, I had the honor of working in hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, transplantation, CKD education, staff education, clinical trials, and disease management. I have assisted numerous staff in professional development in my roles as an Education Coordinator, Clinical Team Leader, and Nurse Manger. I served as a chapter treasurer for 4 years where I was instrumental in that chapter’s revitalization. I am currently the chapter secretary in another chapter. On the regional level I served as Chapters Coordinator-Elect (CCE) / Chapters Coordinator (CC) 2008-2010 and am in my 2nd year as CCE/CC 2011-2013. I am currently a member of the CKD Specialty Practice Network.

Role in ANNA projects/activities illustrating support of ANNA’s mission, goals, and objectives

Membership. As a local chapter officer I have worked with my fellow officers in two chapters to retain current members and recruit new members. In my regional officer role I have assisted four struggling chapters’ officers to recharter via telephone calls, emails, and face-to-face visits during educational events.

Professional Development. I participated in the development of certification review course, which we held two times for ANNA and one time for the Georgia NKF. While I was an officer in that chapter, we hosted two certification exams. I modified the certification review course to tailor it towards PCTs before they took their CCHT exam.

Business. As a chapter treasurer for 4 years I, along with my fellow officers, promoted the value to ANNA membership and that chapter won the Regional and National Recruitment & Retention Awards in 2005.
