Role in ANNA projects/activities illustrating support of ANNA’s mission, goals, and objectives
I am a strong advocate for membership to a professional organization. The Black Swamp Chapter focused on recruitment and received an award for the most new members. One of the years that the National Symposium was in Washington, DC, I had the opportunity to meet with the Ohio legislators’ representatives. Since that meaningful experience, our chapter has been active with CapWiz and informing our legislators of issues that concern the renal community. In the area of professional development, I focus to lead my chapter in education, community outreach, and volunteerism. The Black Swamp Chapter is active in collaborating and partnering with the Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio to volunteer at events including their annual walk, golf tournament, wine affair, lollipop sale, and other activities. For several years, I have coordinated the annual Nephrology Symposium supported by the Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio that educates nurses, technicians, social workers, and dietitians. We also proudly support the PKD Foundation, Toledo Chapter, and have volunteered with their annual Walk for PKD.
