Beth Ulrich, EdD, RN, FACHE, FAAN
Pearland, TX

Beth Ulrich, EdD, RN, FACHE, FAAN, brings her editorial and writing expertise in nursing publications to the Nephrology Nursing Journal. Dr. Ulrich has extensive experience as a healthcare executive, educator, author, and researcher. She is a nationally recognized nursing leader who is known for her research on nursing work environments and the experiences of new graduate nurses as they transition into the workforce as well as for her leadership in developing the roles of nephrology nurses and improving the care of nephrology patients. Beth began her nephrology nursing career in 1972 and served ANNA as Secretary and Vice President for the Southeast Region and as President in 1984-85. She was recognized for her contributions to ANNA in 2009 when she was awarded “The Outstanding Contribution to ANNA Award,” the association’s most prestigious award. Her book, Mastering Precepting: A Nurse's Handbook for Success, was named a 2012 AJN Book of the Year.

Karen C. Robbins, MS, RN, CNN

Karen C. Robbins, MS, RN, CNN, has held a variety of clinically focused positions in nephrology nursing, both in dialysis and transplantation. Positions include Kidney Transplant Coordinator, Nurse Clinician in Transplantation, staff nurse in dialysis, and Nurse Educator in Dialysis and Transplantation. She has experience as a nephrology nurse consultant and legal nurse consultant. Karen has served ANNA as Northeast Vice President, Treasurer, President in 1997-98, and President of the Colonial Chapter of ANNA. She served as a Director for the Nephrology Nursing Certification Board (now NNCC). She was recognized for her contributions to ANNA in 2003 when she was awarded “The Outstanding Contribution to ANNA Award,” the association’s most prestigious award.

Deborah Brooks is a Research Coordinator and Nurse Practitioner in the Division of Nephrology at the Medical University of South Carolina. She has been a nephrology nurse since 1980 and has been active in ANNA in a number of capacities.
Paula Dutka, MSN, RN, CNN

Paula Dutka functions in an advanced practice capacity as a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Winthrop-University Hospital, in Long Island, NY. Her multi-faceted role encompasses three areas of practice, including research, staff education, and management. Paula is a past president of the Long Island Chapter of ANNA, an ANNA item writer, and has served as a manuscript reviewer.
Carol Headley, DNSc, RN, CNN
Carol Headley is Nephrology APN at the VA Medical Center in Memphis, TN. She has served as Program Chairperson for the ANNA National Symposium and additional meetings, and is also the Editor of the 2007 ANNA publication, Career Fulfillment in Nephrology Nursing: Your Guide to Professional Development (Second Edition).
Holly McFarland, MSN, RN, CNN

Holly McFarland is a clinical nurse specialist with 23 years of nephrology nursing experience and has her own renal consulting business. She had held several chapter officer positions and is currently president of the Tar River Chapter in NC. She served 2 years as advisor for the National Management Symposium, was on the ANNA Education Committee for the same period, and has been a member of the Hemodialysis SIG Committee.
Charlotte Szromba, MSN, RN, NP, CS, CNN

Charlotte Szromba is a Nurse Consultant/Practitioner with Nephrology Clinical Solutions. She has served in many volunteer positions within ANNA.
