Pitman, NJ – The American Nephrology Nurses’ Association (ANNA) has earned Accreditation with Distinction by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the highest recognition awarded by the ANCC Accreditation Program.

ANCC Accreditation distinguishes organizations that demonstrate quality and excellence in the curriculum, design and delivery of continuing nursing education (CNE). Accredited organizations, like ANNA, meet comprehensive, evidenced-based criteria to ensure CNE activities are effectively planned, implemented and evaluated.

Only organizations without deficiencies are considered eligible to achieve Accreditation with Distinction. As of September 2012, less than 10% of all ANCC-accredited organizations achieved this honor.

Thanks to ANNA’s top-quality standards, nephrology nurses have access to the exact education they need to meet certification or licensure requirements. This in turn contributes to better patient care and improved outcomes.

“We are proud to be recognized by ANCC for our commitment to continuous improvement and the highest quality continuing education for nurses,” said ANNA President Norma Gomez, MSN, MBA, RN, CNN.  “ANCC accreditation gives nurses assurance that by choosing ANNA, they will receive the best CNE available.”

According to Hazel Dennison, DNP, RN, APNc, CPHQ, CNE, ANNA’s director of education services and lead nurse planner, the Accreditation with Distinction recognition validates that ANNA’s many programs and events, which include two national meetings, publications, and targeted education projects, provide nephrology nurses with absolutely the latest and highest caliber of evidence-based content for the specialty.

“The planning committee pours our hearts into finding the best speakers, writers, and content for nephrology nurses,” Dr. Dennison said. “This ANCC designation is very rewarding, not only for ANNA’s leaders, volunteers and staff, but for the nurses who are spreading the knowledge in their practice every day.”

ANCC Accreditation is a voluntary, peer-review process intended to strengthen and sustain the quality and integrity of continuing nursing education, making it worthy of public confidence. Accrediting organizations like ANCC assess providers of continuing nursing education to ensure they meet rigorous global standards.
