Job Position and Professional Responsibilities:

As the sole Living Donor Coordinator for Kidney & Liver Transplant at UNC Hospitals, I receive/process all donor referrals as well as screen donors based on center specific criteria. I coordinate donor education & evaluations. I facilitate weekly living donor committee meetings, present donor cases for review, then compile & distribute meeting minutes. I schedule all living donor surgeries, pre op visits and follow up visits. Complete all UNOS mandated reporting on living donors. I manage data entry for a national Kidney Paired Donation registry & facilitate living donor kidney cases via registry. Requiring proper documentation & data entry.

Describe your role in three ANNA projects/activities which support(ed) ANNA’s mission, goals, and objectives:

  1. ANNA representative to Technical Assistance, Quality Improvement, and Learning-(TAQIL) committee- 2021 - present- The purpose of this 5 year project is to engage the procurement, kidney care, and kidney transplant community to overcome any barrier and make systemic changes that lead to sustainable practice improvements and increase the number of lives touched by kidney transplantation. ANNA is a member of the Leadership Council overseeing this project and I am the ANNA representative.
  2. Transplant 101 Webinar Series - as leader of the Transplant SPN, we have developed the concept of doing Transplant webinars addressing the basics and stages of kidney transplant. The series is entitled Transplant 101 and multiple topics are to be presented over the next couple of years. Two presentations were done in 2022, and two are slated for 2023. I have developed content for and presented 2 webinars in the series (April 2022, June 2023). 
  3. A part of ANNA's mission is to improve members' lives through education. In that arena, I have contributed by doing several local, regional and national presentations and have been an author or reviewer on the following ANNA publications:
    • Contemporary Nephrology Nursing, Third Edition, 2017, Chapter 33: Kidney Transplantation: Organ Donation
    • Core Curriculum for Nephrology Nursing, Seventh Edition, 2020, Chapter 21: Transplantation
